A revolutionary concept from the desk
Of Daniel ANDRIEU
When the naval architect Daniel ANDRIEU picks up his pen, and drawing upon his vast experience and creativity designs a new sailboat, sailing enthusiasts rejoice and head for the sea.
In creating the SUN ODYSSEY 40 DS, he has favored even more than plain performance the total essence of sailing. It's the first JEANNEAU sailboat designed with a revolutionary new concept of a deck salon.

With living accommodations comparable to those of much bigger yachts, the interior of the SUN ODYSSEY 40 DS brings a new dimension to cruising sailboats.

The interior layout is as follows :

The salon and the galley on the same level offers :
- A wide panoramic view of the outside from the seated as well as standing position.
- The small difference in height between the cockpit and the salon makes it easy to get down below.
A comfortable well-lit and well-ventilated salon with an ergonomic "U"-shaped bench seat to starboard.

A huge owner's cabin forward equipped with a vanity, storage lockers, and a private head/shower.

A spacious aft cabin with numerous storage lockers.

An "L"-shaped galley to starboard, with cleverly placed lockers under the cockpit.

A comfortable cockpit that allows freedom of movement with :
- A cockpit table that transforms into a sun deck on the 2-cabin version.
- Access to the transom skirt through a removeable seat to port.
- A "forward" cockpit helm station to starboard, protected by an optional dodger, and close to belowdecks, leaving the aft portion of the cockpit clear for easier maneuvering at sea or more comfort at the dock.
- A cockpit pedestal steering will be available for the 3-cabin version.
Equipped with the latest technological advances such as an automatic reefing system, masthead rigging that adjusts quickly to different sailing conditions, this boat is available in a roomy and cozy 2-cabin version as well as a 3-cabin model.
Comfortable cruiser, performance sailboat, the SUN ODYSSEY 40 DS reveals itself to be equally at home at anchor thanks to its transom step into the cockpit.
